Design

Just as there is for building a house, there is a process for building websites. Here is what to expect:

  1. The first step is to gather all of the textual information that is to be displayed on your website.
  2. Next we will determine the structure and organization of the information. This step is where we determine the web page structures and site navigation.
  3. Lastly we will add graphical detail to complement the information on the website and reflect the professional image of your organization.

I design with an eye towards compatibility, accessibility and "future proofing." Your website will be designed to be accessible on a wide variety of Internet browsers and operating systems such as Windows, Apple, and Linux. You can be sure that whatever your visitors use to view your website, they will be able to view all of your information. Since I create websites using agreed upon standards, your website will also be compatible with future Internet browser versions.

Accessibility also refers to visitors with physical limitations and disabilities. I design websites to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Website Accessibility Initiative (WAI) recommendations.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a US law requiring electronic technology used by the government to be accessible. The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) develops strategies, guidelines, and resources to help make the Web accessible to people with disabilities.
